A few years after salvation was conceived in me, I sat in a chair in my mother's living room. It had been an upsetting couple of months. But things were calming down and beginning to make since again. It was late at night and I remember I was smoking a cigarette. I closed my eyes and I said, "ok God. Will you talk to me the way you talk to other people?" I stared into the blackness behind my eyes. A few moments later I heard this, "You will move mountains that no one thought would ever be moved." I knew enough about scripture to know that meant that I would see miracles some day. I didn't know that it was also a glimpse into my future prayer life.
"I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours." (Mark 11:23, 24 NLT)
Did you know that everything in the natural is a reflection of what's happening in the spiritual? The Bible uses lot of natural examples to help us understand the supernatural.
The Holy Spirit is still moving in the same way today. He uses all kinds if natural things to give us understanding about the spiritual. We just have to be looking for it. We have to have our spiritual eyes open. He even uses this crazy Texas weather.
While you're outside today enjoying the sunshine, wearing short sleeves, maybe even FLIP FLOPS, and doing things you can only do in this beautiful spring like weather.... Praise Him. Praise Him and then ask for anything.... even little things. Because just as the sky will open up tonight and pour out rain, I believe The Lord is saying he is opening up the heavens and tonight his kingdom will be poured out.
This time tomorrow people will be healed of physical sickness and heart sickness. Some will receive phone calls and answers they've been waiting for. Hearts and minds will come into agreement with His kingdom. And, he'll even give little gifts that we've been silently asking for.
Today I'm asking for healing for my sick little babies. A new desk. And, for hearts to be set on fire for Jesus. Just like a volcano erupts in the heart of a mountain.
Jesus says to pray about everything; big things and little things. Go ahead. The rain is coming.
"Open the heavens, Lord, and come down...... " Psalm 144:5
